Telensa, the world leader in smart street lighting and smart city data applicationshas announced that its lighting controls are being deployed in DP Worlds newest container Terminal#4. Telensa technology is being used to connect 700 of Terminal 4 high-masts and street lights, deployed by local partner ACS Wireless. Telensa PLANet will give DP World remote control of their outdoor lighting to change lighting levels for each group (area, stack, and/or alley). Telensa is able to meet DP World's requirements to dim the selected lighting group to 5 lux during low operation levels, and override to full lighting power (20 lux) when required. In addition, energy and maintenance cost savings can be reported via Telensa’s user interface.
Telensa PLANet is an end-to-end intelligent street lighting system, consisting of wireless nodes connecting individual lights, a dedicated network owned by the city and a central management application. The system pays for itself in reduced energy and maintenance costs, improves quality of maintenance through automatic fault reporting and turns streetlight poles into hubs for smart city sensors. With more than 1.7 million lights connected, Telensa PLANet is the world’s most popular connected streetlight system.
“Ports and airports around the world are increasingly switching to our smart street lighting technology to bring the benefits of adaptive lighting, reduce their carbon footprint and to deploy a network for smart sensors,” said Will Gibson, Telensa Founder and Chief Commercial Officer. “We are delighted to be working with DP World to support their innovation for excellence initiative, adding smart street lighting to help create a seamless port experience.”
